NLS LITIGATION
Co-Counsel Charlie (not an actual lawyer) is a rescue from the Sault Ste Marie Humane Society, born September 28, 2021 and adopted in early December 2021. Charlie has his own instagram, @CoCounselCharlie and has appeared at the Federal Court of Appeal, at all courts in Ontario (Ontario Court of Appeal, Ontario Superior Court, Ontario Court of Justice), Alberta's Kings Bench (then, Queen's Bench), and several tribunals. Recently, in May 2022, Charlie was Naomi's campaign chair/lead for Naomi's provincial election campaign. Naomi was the first Indigenous woman lawyer to run in the Sault Ste Marie riding as an independent candidate.
Charlie enjoys providing primarily emotional support on all litigation files. His walk-out song/litigation preparation song is Ace Frehley's New York Groove. Like a true German Shepherd/Husky mix, he enjoys a good challenging complex file that keeps him on his toes. Barbara Kay once called him a pit bull.
You can catch him chasing tennis balls early in the morning before court or hiking in High Park in Toronto or in the back of Garden River First Nation (Naomi's home community) on his days off with lead counsel, Naomi.
